Anime Vanguards Trait Reroll Guide

Trait Rerolls are easiest to waste right after code drops. Pick one account-defining unit first, then reroll only when the unit will actually be used.

Quick Facts Traits & Elements
  • Traits are strongest on units that already solve a mode problem.
  • Check pity and reroll budget before chasing rare traits.
  • Pair element and familiar choices with the team role.

Fast reroll rule

Spend Trait Rerolls on a unit only when three things are true: the unit is on your main team, the unit helps a mode you are actively clearing, and the trait upgrade changes real performance. Do not spend rerolls just because a unit is new, shiny, or mentioned in a tier list.

Trait reroll decision order

Use this order before spending Update 13 code rewards, shop rerolls, or saved reroll stacks. The goal is to protect scarce Trait Rerolls until the unit, target trait, and current mode all point in the same direction.

Trait reroll source matrix

Use the source type before turning a Trait Reroll reward, trait name, tier-list row, or screenshot into advice. Do not convert a code reward into a reroll recommendation unless the unit, mode, trait target, and stop point are already named.

Spend first

Main carry, evolved unit, high-DPS secret, or current event unit that you are already upgrading.

Hold first

Fresh pull with no materials, filler Mythic, trade-only copy, or unit you are testing for one stage.

Check first

Use the unit database and DPS calculator before rerolling. A trait on the wrong unit is still a wasted resource.

Trait target priority by unit role

A rare trait is not automatically correct on every unit. Match the trait to the job the unit performs in your real team, then use the DPS planner only after the role is clear.

Trait routeBest unit roleKeep whenReroll caution
Monarch
S+ · Top-end carry trait
Low-placement, expensive, or centerpiece DPS units where one boosted placement carries the map.Keep on a permanent main carry, premium evolved unit, or unit you already use across several modes.Do not chase it on filler units, fresh pulls with no materials, or trade-only copies.
Ethereal
S · Premium DPS trait
Fast attackers, several-placement carries, and all-round units that gain from damage and tempo together.Keep on almost any serious carry unless the unit specifically needs Monarch's one-placement ceiling.Reroll only if the unit is truly permanent and you have enough resources to chase a narrower target.
Solar
S · Range and tempo route
Units that need coverage while still benefiting from a modest DPS lift.Keep when the unit leaks because of coverage, awkward map pathing, or support-radius pressure.Consider rerolling on pure boss carries where range is not the bottleneck.
Deadeye
A+ · Critical route
Units that already care about crit scaling, Unbound-style planning, or crit-support setups.Keep on crit-friendly units or boss-pressure units where the crit package is visible in results.Reroll if the unit has no crit synergy and needs raw tempo, range, or one-placement power instead.
Blitz
A · Speed route
Units that already hit hard but lose value because they attack too slowly.Keep in progression when better rare traits are unrealistic and the unit needs tempo.Reroll on endgame permanent carries once rare-trait pity or resource stock is realistic.
Fortune
A · Economy trait
Farm units and economy routes where income matters more than raw damage.Keep on farm/economy units and routes where early upgrades decide the clear.Reroll on pure DPS carries unless the current mode is economy-gated.
Marksman
B+ · Range trait
Support units, awkward maps, and units whose value comes from coverage instead of raw DPS.Keep while progressing if range is the exact reason the unit underperforms.Reroll on permanent damage carries after the account has enough rerolls for rare targets.
Scholar
B · Account progression trait
Leveling routes or temporary units where account progression is the short-term goal.Keep only when leveling speed is more important than a current clear.Reroll on serious carry, boss, Infinite, Rift, or trade-value units.

Candidate reroll audit

Use this audit when a unit looks strong enough to deserve rerolls. The rows are generated from high-DPS or Secret entries in the current unit database, then routed into tools that check whether the trait spend is actually justified.

After redeeming codes

Update 13 codes include Trait Reroll rewards. Claim them, then wait until you know which unit is carrying Story, Infinite, Rift, Boss Rush, or Pirate Dynasty. The reroll decision should follow the account plan, not the other way around.

Mode-specific reroll rules

How mode goals change Anime Vanguards Trait Reroll decisions.
Mode goalSpend whenHold whenOpen next
Story progressionThe unit is carrying repeated clears and a better trait fixes leaks or boss pressure. The unit is temporary and will be replaced after the next banner or evolution.Story guide
Infinite modeThe unit scales deep into waves and trait value persists across a long run.The unit only solves early waves or needs stat chips first.Infinite route
Boss RushThe target trait improves boss damage, timing, or range enough to change the clear. The clear fails from team structure, placement, or missing upgrades.Boss Rush
Raids and dungeonsThe unit is part of a repeated farm route and the trait shortens or stabilizes clears. The route is unfamiliar or the unit is only borrowed from a tier-list idea.Raid/dungeon planner
Trading or valueThe unit is a high-value copy you are actually keeping and the trait improves practical demand. The unit is being traded away or value is uncertain after an update.Value watchlist

Trait reroll stop-loss rules

  1. Stop immediately if the unit loses its main-team slot, even if the trait is still mediocre.
  2. Stop after hitting a trait that solves the mode problem you named before rolling.
  3. Pause near pity and verify that the target unit still deserves the pity chase.
  4. Hold the remaining stack when a new update, banner, or evolution route could replace the unit.
  5. Move to resource priority before spending the last rerolls on a non-permanent unit.

Screenshot-needed reroll evidence

  • Current unit screen: record unit form, level, evolution state, current trait, and whether the unit is staying on the main team.
  • Reroll inventory: record Trait Rerolls available, pity counter, and the stop point before the session starts.
  • Mode proof: record the Story, Infinite, Boss Rush, Rift, raid, dungeon, event, or trade-keep reason the trait is meant to improve.
  • Trait result: record the kept trait, rejected trait, and why the session stopped.
  • Patch conflict: if Discord, Reddit, YouTube, wiki, or screenshot evidence disagrees about a trait effect, keep the exact effect out of the guide until repeated evidence matches.

Quick answers

Common questions

Short answers for the decision this page is meant to solve.

Should I spend Trait Rerolls on every Mythic unit?

No. Save Trait Rerolls for units that will stay on your main team, carry a mode, or have strong evolved value.

What should I do after redeeming Update 13 Trait Reroll codes?

Pick one main carry first, check the unit database and DPS calculator, then reroll only if the unit will actually be used.

When should I stop rerolling traits?

Stop after the trait solves the mode problem you named, when the unit is no longer permanent, when pity needs a fresh check, or when a coming update could replace the unit.

Which trait should I target first?

Target the trait that fits the unit's real job. A carry may value premium DPS traits, a range or utility unit may need coverage, and a farm unit should not be judged like a boss killer.

Should I chase pity on a weak unit?

No. Trait pity is still a resource spend. Use the pity calculator only after the unit passes the investment, mode, and damage gates.
